About Triumph

Triumph decal

Triumph is C&C/NML hull #25 of the 115 line, commissioned in 2006 in Vancouver BC by Yacht Sales West.  She enjoyed two good summers of cruising around the Strait of Georgia until the spring of 2008 when she was trucked across country to follow her owner to the port of Halifax.  She now resides at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron on Halifax’s Northwest Arm.

The C&C 115 is a fractional rigged racer/cruiser.  Hull construction is carbon fibre reinforced fiberglass foam core with a carbon fibre mast, designed by Tim Jackett.

Triumph has enjoyed the leisurely life of a cruiser for most of the last four years but is undergoing big changes for the 2010 season.  A new wardrobe of regatta sails is being prepared by Erik Koppernaes of UK Sails Maritimes based on designs from Geoff Bishop of UK Fremantle on Australia’s west coast.  A rudder bearing upgrade is underway by Gallant Marine with new roller bearings from Jefa Marine, Holland.  Bosun Yacht Works is undertaking this year’s bottom preparation.  We’ve assembled an eager crew and it promises to be a great season on the water.

Very interested in upgrading my C&C 115 with new rudder bearings. How did the Jefa bearings perform and which upgrade did you have installed?

    Great website.

Hi Don, the Jefa bearings made a tremendous change to the feel at the helm. If course that wasn’t too hard to accomplish as there was virtually no feel in the original setup. After one season I’m very pleased with the investment. I chose the option with the integral deck plate. There is a good thread on this at the 115 forum site under the heading “rudder boot”. Check out http://www.cc115naca.com.

I’m curious about how pleased you are with the UK sails. I have a C&C 115 on Vancouver Island and am gearing up for the Van Isle 360; in the process of purchasing new sails and have narrowed it down to UK sails and Ullman Sails. Which UK sails did you purchase and any comments regarding performance/durability?
    Thanks,
    Francis Walsh

      Hi Francis,
I purchased a set of 2 headsails (#2 & #3) and a mainsail in Tapedrive construction and a light air jib (#1) in Matrix and at the end of one season have been very happy with the sails.
